About Tiger Stripes
Hi! I'm Karen!
I'm a mother of a cheeky, headstrong little girl, Tunbridge Wells resident, wife, and crazy cat lady. I also own and run Tiger Stripes Birth & Baby because I am passionate about supporting women and their families at this amazing, but terrifying time in their lives when they are welcoming a whole new person into their family.
I believe very strongly that positive birth experiences come from being informed and involved in the decisions around your pregnancy, birth and labour. Every woman has a different idea of what a positive birth looks like, and I aim to empower you to make the decisions that are right for you.

Continuation of care is something that I feel is so important which is why Tiger Stripes doesn't leave you once the baby is born. After all, labour will only last a few days at most - your baby will be with you a LOT LONGER
Personally, Motherhood hit me like a ton of bricks! I wasn't prepared for the impact of the post partum period on my body and my mind and having a baby was such a huge transition from my previous life! My daughter was a completely unknown entity who lived completely by her own rules! I felt well out of my depth! But, attending antenatal and baby classes with my own daughter was a real support to me during this vulnerable time.
I am proud to deliver quality, up to date, evidence based antenatal education without bias. Our class plans are reviewed and updated by our midwife Jo (see below!) so you can be sure that the information you are receiving from me is accurate, current and evidence based.
I am independently accredited by the Federation of Antenatal Educators (FEDANT) as an antenatal teacher (reg no. 13207). I hold a certificate in hypnoirthing and I have a certificate in Women's Health After Motherhood. I am dedicated to ensuring my knowledge is up to date and I am dedicated to ongoing CPD.
I am also a qualified baby class teacher and I am registered with ICAP (Institute of Children's Activity Providers)
They say it takes a village to raise a baby - let me help you find yours
Information you can trust
Hello! I'm Jo, a mum, a midwife and an essential oils specialist.
I trained as a midwife in Leeds, working across both hospital sites and finally spent 18 months with the designated homebirth team. That was my dream job! It was in this role that I truly learned the best of midwifery. My experience within that team also allowed me to learn from some of the best midwives in the trust. I learned how to communicate with individuals and their birth partners to enable them to truly understand what was happening in their unique circumstances, so that they felt enabled to make the decisons for their birth plan that felt right for them.
I also learned the true strength of birth, of the power of that individual bringing life into the world, and this still blows me away now!
I now work in a local continuity team providing team continuity during pregnancy, birth and the immediate postnatal period.
I love the courses Tiger Stripes offers, they are thorough, detailed and incredibly well researched including all birth possibilities. There is always a chance birth might not go to plan, however there is excellent preparation for this within these courses. This is vital as birth has a large element of luck to it! That said, having your head, heart and body in the best place possible before birth hugely sways the odds in your favour!
